FINALLY! A superhero movie with a deep and meaningful plot. The new version of “The Incredible Hulk” starring Edward Norton and Liv Tyler was a huge sucess and will stand out as a landmark of comic books gone movies for a very long time. With its exhilirating action scenes(which are limited thank god!) and its intense storyline this movie blew away all my expectations of it, and raised the bar of the superhero movie genre. I only went to see the movie because I am a huge Norton fan, and I was extremely pessimistic regarding the film, especially after the first Hulk was such a flop. However, the movie turned out to be great and I was happily surprised. The only unfortunate thing about me seeing this movie is that it completely raised my expectations of the superhero category and it set the bar by which all movies in this genre will now be judged.

The basic premise of the film is Bruce Banner (Norton) searching for a cure to turning into the hulk when his heart rate rises and he becomes angry. Meanwhile, an overzealous U.S. general searches for Norton believing that his entire body is property of the United States government because he only became the hulk as a result of a military experiment. Betty Ross (Tyler) a doctor in molecular biology (or something similar) loves Banner and tries to help her find a cure. Her father (the general) tries to open her eyes to the destruction that Banner causes. When French spec ops soldier contracted by the US military to track Banner experiments with other military “Hulkish” experiments he becomes somewhat of a monster himself!

“The Incredible Hulk was a good and entertaining movie, and it definitely deserves a viewing from everyone out there who reads this!.

Iron Man

Premise: An American military arms dealer (Tony Stark) is kidnapped in Afghanistan by a group of Afghani soldiers. While in captivity, he is instructed to create a missile for the group, he instead however creates his “Iron Man” suit. Upon his return to America, he fully develops his new technology and has a change of heart about his creation of weapons of destruction. The movie unfolds from here where of course the superhero encounters his villain.

Would I go see “Iron Man” again? Yes, but I would have to pay for two tickets. One for me, and one for the guy holding a gun to my head. I had high hopes for this movie since I had heard from many people that it was a good movie, however it fell short of my standards of a good movie- as every superhero movie has to date. “Iron Man” is just another movie with a lot of big bangs, and no plot. If you like movies with a horrible story line, and a lot of crap blowing up, then “Iron Man” is for you. The movie attempts to counteract the huge amounts of action with idiotic comic relief. Somebody needs to inform the writers that comic relief only works when people are drawn into the story. I went and saw this movie with my friend, and all movie we were laughing at the dialogue. The only thing I really enjoyed about this movie, was the anti-Bush and anti-war theme it sends the audience in the middle-end of the movie. All in all, I was really disappointed, I guess I need to put my superhero movie stock into “The Dark Knight” next.
